BUHS JV trap the Bobcats

Bishop Union High School JV football win

The Bishop Union High School Junior Varsity scored in all three phases of the game Friday.  The Bronco Offense, Defense and special teams all got in the scoring column.  Six different Broncos found the end zone in Bishop Union’s 38-8 win.  Boron made the trip to Bishop Friday, September 25th as a fill in game.  Bishop’s varsity had a bye week and both Bishop and Boron have been victim to schools cancelling JV football.  With the win the Bronco JV notch their first win of the year improving their record to 1-3.  The Broncos travel to Lancaster this Friday to face the Paraclete Spirits.  The JV game will begin at 4pm with the varsity to follow at 7pm.  The games will be played at Antelope Valley College with the Varsity game broadcast live on AM1230 KBOV and streamed live here at kibskbov.com.  Rock Baker and Arnie Palu will have the call.

Bishop JV vs. Boron

Bishop Union scored first on a tough run by quarterback Trace Sapp.  The Sapp score but Bishop up 6-0.  Freshman Mark Mayhugh found the end zone next on a sweep putting the Broncos up 12-0 with 3:20 to play in the opening quarter.

The second quarter scoring included an 11-yard touchdown pass from Sapp to Freshman Michael George.  Boron answered with a strong drive penetrating the Bronco red zone.  The Bishop defense came up with a big play as linebacker Lorenzo Parra sacked the bobcat quarterback forcing a fumble.  Strong Safety Brodie Maloney scooped up the fumble and ran 84-yards for a Bishop touchdown.

The second half started with a 81-yard kickoff return by Freshman Arturo Lemus.  The special teams play marked the third time this season the Broncos have returned a kickoff for a touchdown.  The game then went to a running clock for the entire second half.  Lorenzo Parra capped the Bronco scoring with a 4th quarter 4-yard touchdown run.  Boron answered with a touchdown pass and two point conversion making the final score 38-8.

Bronco JV Football Hosting Boron

BUHS JV football takes on Boron Today

The Bishop Union High School Junior Varsity will take to John Schwab Field today, Friday September 25th.  A 4pm kickoff is set as the Broncos battle the Boron Bobcats.  The Bishop varsity has a bye this week and will return to action next week at Paraclete.  Boron’s varsity team is on the road tonight taking on Riverside Prep.

The Broncos and Bobcats have not played since the 2010 CIF championship game.  Bishop came out on top claiming the northeast division championship.  Bishop did travel to Boron this preseason for a scrimmage, but the two teams have not met in a meaningful game since the 2010 title game.

Today’s junior Varsity match will feature two teams hungry for their first win.  Both Bishop Union and Boron enter with 0-3 records.  There will be no charge to attend today’s game with kickoff set to begin at 4pm at Bishop Union High Schools John Schwab Field.

The Bronco JV have lost their first three games falling to Carson City, Yerington, and Vasquez.  The Bronco JV fell 36-30 at Vasquez a week ago.
