He fought back and by the m middle of the third period tied the score 12-12. With just seconds remaining, Joseph was able to pin his opponent. Angel Santana finished the day by pinning his opponent in just over 20 seconds.
Coach Shawn Joseph said, “I’m pleased with the quality of wrestling from both Joseph and Angel. I was very impressed by Joe coming back from a 0-8 deficit to tie the score and then pin his opponent. Angel continues to impress us with how quickly he learns moves and is able to use them in matches.”

The Bronco with the best record this season is Angel Santana with a record of 5 -1 with all 5 wins being pins.

Comments by Head Wrestling Coach Duffy Otteson – “Winnemucca is a very tough tournament (26 teams). There is a lot of big schools there and some schools that come down from Idaho and Oregon. Our kids did well and learned a lot from the tournament. We are still a very young team with very little experience. We are off to lovelock this weekend for another big tournament we are hoping to get everyone healthy this week as we have been sick. We should have 6 wrestlers going this weekend. We then will get a break and come back to Alamo for a tournament and we should be up to 7 kids for that tournament. The kids have been working hard in practice and are improving.”

This week Tonopah Wrestlers travel to Lovelock, NV to the Lovelock Invitational (Dec. 20th)

Bishop Girls Varsity Soccer at the Eagle Cup

Bishop varsity girls soccer played at the Eagle Cup in Lancaster this weekend, December 5 and 6th. This is a two Saturday tournament so they play again next Saturday.   Bishop lost their first game 4-1 to a very good school from Pasadena; Maranatha High School. The goal scorer was Kailyn Boxley.  Bishop only had two shots on target during the game, the Maranatha team had great ball control and were able to keep possession the majority of the game.

The second game was against Community Charter from the LA school district.  Bishop lost 2-1 with their one goal coming from Senior Midfielder Alicia Campos. This was a particularly exciting goal for Alicia as she had surgery this summer and has been working hard to get back to her original form.
