INYO NATIONAL FOREST PRESCRIBED BURNING
Prescribed burning continued in the Inyo National Forest yesterday. Thanks to the areas recent snowfall, fire crews were able to begin pile burning near Smokey Bear Flats yesterday afternoon. Crews are working with the Great Basin Unified Air Pollution Control District and want to take advantage of favorable wind dispersal. Crews were hoping to complete up to 20 acres depending on hoe the smoke disperses along Highway 395.
Since the burn unit is so close to the highway, motorists should plan to see smoke in the area and should slow down for fir fighters along the road corridor.
