The Los Angeles Department of water and power is conducting a controlled burn today between Independence and Big Pine.  Approximately 100 acres are targeted for treatment.  The burn is designed to improve range habitat.   DWP spokesperson Amanda Parsons indicates there was a burn conducted on Wednesday in Bishop near Saunders pond.

Next week a burn is planned in the Blackrock Waterfowl Management Area for habitat improvement.
