Bishop Union High School girls soccer improves to 3-0 in High Desert League play with a 1-0 win at Frazier Mt.  Coach Manny Terrasas is quick to credit the fine play of the Bronco defense led by Kori Boxley, Emeli Mora, Karla Castilla, and Ritz Garcia.  Tied 0-0 at the half the Broncos scored the only goal of the match in the second half with freshman Katie “Bugs” Dohnel scoring with an assist from Brittany Santana.

The win moves the Broncos to 3-0 in HDL play, even with rival Kern Valley.  Both Bishop and KV notched 1-0 wins over Frazier Mt. While the Bishop/Kern Valley rivalry has not been a fierce one in soccer, KV looks to challenge Bishop in 2016.   Bishop Union will travel to Kern Valley next week with a trip to Lake Isabella set for Tuesday, January 26th.

HDL Standings
1. Bishop Union 3-0-0
2. Kern Valley  3-0-0
3. Frazier Mt.  1-2-0
4. Rosamond  0-2-1
5. California City 0-3-1

Thursday the Bronco Varsity boys could not maintain the momentum of their come-form-behind win Tuesday over California City.  Bishop Union fell to Frazier Thursday 3-0.  Bishop Union Coach Peter Thomsen said, “The first half was an evenly played match.  Frazier scored a late goal to take a 1-0 lead into half.  Frazier scored on two second half goals to secure the win.  Bishop had a number of drives at goal throughout the match but was unable to score.  Despite the loss Bishop remains in third place in league.  We have critical games next week against Kern (Tuesday away) and Rosamond (Thursday home).”

HDL Standings
1. Frazier Mt 3-0
2. Rosamond 3-0
3. Bishop Union 1-2
4. California City 1-3
5. Kern Valley 0-3
