BUHS JV battle Carson

Bishop Union Fall to Carson City

Bronco JV fall 37-26

The 2015 Bishop Union High School JV football team filled a gap in their schedule with a Friday night game with Carson City. The Senators made the trip to Bishop filling a void left by Whittier Christian. The Hearlds did not bring a JV team to town. The Broncos and Senators played a spirited, back and forth match with Carson coming out on top 37-26.

Bishop opened the scoring with a Trace Sapp 4-yard touchdown run midway through the first quarter. The Senators countered with a score of their own moving the score even at 7-7. The Broncos answered with a one-play touchdown drive. Sophomore Hunter Waasdorp made a great read on an option play pitching the ball to Chad Reeves for a 77-yard touchdown run. The Arturo Lemus point after moved Bishop on top 14-7. Carson answered with a score to pull within 14-13. Just before halftime Carson would take a lead after notching a safety.

Down 15-14 at the half Bishop would respond. Sophomore Trace Sapp returned the second half kick off for a touchdown putting the Broncos back on top 20-15. Carson would have the answer yet again going ahead 23-20 on another rushing touchdown. Bishop would take the lead back through the air. Waasdorp connected with freshman Arturo Lemus for a 69-yard touchdown pass putting the Broncos up 26-23. Carson would close out the game with a pair of scores winning 37-26.

The Bishop JV will continue their season this Friday with a trip to Yerington Nevada. JV kickoff is set for 4:30.
