Mountain Passes open

Caltrans reopens mountain passes

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) have removed the snow, cleared the debris and made the necessary repairs to reopen SR 89 (Monitor Pass), SR 108 (Sonora Pass), and SR 120 (Tioga Pass) as of Monday, May 11, 2015. A weather system closed all three passes this past Thursday, May 7th.  As is often the case this time of year, opening and closing of mountain passes is dependent on favorable weather conditions. Caltrans crews closely monitor these highways to determine if it is safe for the traveling public.  For up to date road conditions, please check local highway conditions by calling 1-800-427-7623 or by going online to: before you begin your travel.
