UPDATED: Powerball® Draw Results for California
SACRAMENTO – We have updated information regarding last night’s thrilling Powerball drawing, which includes news of multiple winners in our state. We were playing for an (revised) estimated $564.1 million. While no California ticket hit the jackpot, three tickets sold in our state did match five numbers, missing only the Powerball number. That has resulted in three new millionaires in California! That’s because each of these 2nd place tickets won an impressive $1.4 million apiece.
These winning tickets matched the numbers 11-13-25-39-54, missing only the Powerball number 19. The winning tickets were sold at the following locations:
· Pop Top Market & Liquor, which is located at 14817 East 14th Street in San Leandro (Alameda County);
· Mono Market, which is located at 51303 Highway 395 in Lee Vining (Mono County); and
· The 7-Eleven located at 4502 East Lincoln Avenue in Cypress (Orange County).
They aren’t the only winners. Listen to this: A total of 677,042 tickets sold in California alone won prizes of varying amounts in this drawing. The retailers who sold the three lucky tickets listed above are winners too. Each of these retailers will receive a $7,000 selling bonus! There is even more good news for them. This retailer selling bonus is separate and is NOT pulled from the winner’s prize amount. Therefore, these businesses will receive that bonus without having to wait for the winners to claim their tickets. These retailers have also earned a spot on the California Lottery’s list of Lucky Retailers.
In California, a Powerball jackpot winner would have one year from the date of the draw to claim. All other winners must claim within 180 days of the drawing. We strongly encourage any Lottery winners to immediately SIGN THE BACK OF THEIR TICKETS IN INK and claim them at the nearest California Lottery District Office location.
A total of three lucky tickets did hit the jackpot in this multi-state drawing last night. Those tickets were sold in North Carolina, Texas and Puerto Rico. They will split what is now the 5th largest jackpot won in U.S. history. There is more winning to be had. The Powerball jackpot has now reset to its starting point of $40 million for Saturday’s drawing.
Powerball is a multistate game played in California (as well as 43 other states, plus the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands). Draw times are Wednesdays and Saturdays at 7:59 p.m. PST. Tickets sales are suspended from 7:00 p.m. to 7:05 p.m. the day of the draw. Tickets are $2 and can be purchased from any of the more than 21,000 California Lottery retailersor one of the more than 4,000 Lottery Lucky Retailers. Please visit the California Lottery’s Powerball site for more information on how to play.
The excitement triggered by this lengthy jackpot roll also resulted in strong sales, which translates to even more money generated for California public schools. Powerball is just one element in the Lottery’s vast portfolio of games which helps us continue our legacy of providing much-needed dollars to classrooms across the state. Fiscal Year 2013-14 marks the 14th consecutive year the Lottery has provided more than $1 billion in supplemental funds to California schools. This is an impressive, yet modest amount, because we must always remember that this larger figure is then divided between every public school district across the state.
