Bishop Police Enforce Crosswalk Safety Reminder

Bishop Police Department Conducting Crosswalk Stings, August 2014

Crosswalk Safety, Bishop

In response to recent public concern regarding crosswalk safety in the town of Bishop, the Bishop Police Department would like to make the public aware of special enforcement on many crosswalks throughout town.

In the month of August, the police department will be conducting several crosswalk stings as well as officer assigned enforcement. There are many marked crosswalks throughout the city and therefore it is the goal of the Bishop Police Department to make the public aware of them, to make sure pedestrians are safe, and drivers are abiding the law.

The police department is determined to keep our local residents and traveler’s safe during this busy time of the year.

We also want to remind the public, school will be starting in just a few weeks and drivers need to pay special attention to children as they head to school.

The safety of the pedestrians within the city is very important; therefore this detail and enforcement is necessary to inform drivers the severity of not yielding to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

The citation fine can be a costly fee.
