BUHS Senior Awards Night-Over $390,000 Awarded

Bishop Union High School held their Senior Awards Night for the graduating class of 2018. Throughout the evening just under $391,000 in scholarships were awarded to BUHS Graduates from local businesses, foundations and various organizations.

AltaOne, once again, partnered with KIBS/KBOV and Sierra Wave Radio to recognize student athletes from Bishop High School.

Each year coaches are asked to nominate one athlete from their sport, based on their academic performance and team leadership. Each of the chosen students were then asked to write an essay on their future academic and athletic plans. An independent judging panel graded each nominee to establish one winner and two finalists.
The First Finalist was Carlos Laguna from the Soccer Team. Carlos had a GPA of 4.296 and will be attending Cal Poly Pomona to major in Mechanical Engineering. Carlos, also, plans to try out for the soccer team but will play intramural sports regardless. Carlos Laguna received $1000.

The Second Finalist was Mike Molina who excelled is Football, Basketball and Baseball. Mike had a GPA of 3.5 and plans to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in business administration or engineering while continuing to play football in college. Mike Molina also received $1000.

The winner was Rebekeah Riesen who’s sport was volleyball. Rebekeah has a GPA of 4.23 and plans to major in Marine Biology at a 4-year university in California and play intramural volleyball.
