Bronco Boys Varsity Team Gets Even With Cal City Ravens-Share Top Spot

The Bishop Bronco Basketball teams hosted their final home games of the regular season, Friday night against Cal City, and came away 1 for 2 on the night. The Boys Junior Varsity Team lost their match against the Ravens. The Lady Broncos held tight in the first half of the game only trailing by one point. However, that Lady Ravens came out strong in the second half and got the victory 39-26.

Drew Dondero was the high scorer with 7 points 9 rebounds, Lauren Allen had 6 points 8 rebounds and 2 steals, Gracie Soto scored 5 points and had 17 rebounds, Manese Braithwaite has 5 points 3 assists and 2 steals, and, Mckenna McMutrie scored 3 points had 4 rebounds 2 assists and 1 steal .

In the, much anticipated matchup, between the two boys Varsity teams, The Ravens came into the night 8-0 in league and the Broncos 7-1, with their only loss coming at the hands of the Ravens.

The Broncos came out strong in the first half scoring 44 points to Cal City’s 31. After trailing much of the game, the Ravens were able to tie the game and eventually take the lead. However, in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter, the Broncos were able to regain their momentum and pull out the win, 80-68.

With the victory, the Broncos and Ravens are tied for the top spot with a league record of 8-1, with one game remaining in the regular season.

The Broncos were led by Tommy Ruelas, who had 20 points, Isaiah Anderson had 18 pts, Sam Moose 15 pts, Luke McClean with 7 and Kanyon Martinez had 2.

The Broncos will finish out the regular season with a road trip to Frazier Mtn, on Tuesday, and then wait for the playoff pairings to be announced. We will have that game for you on 1230 AM KBOV with tip off set for 6pm.

In the Central Section Division 4, the Broncos are ranked as the #6 team behind Kerman, Bakersfield Christian, Madera South, Foothill and Granite Hills.
